Neal and Danette Childs Niger, Africa

Niger, bordering the Sahara desert, is located in the 10/40 window and is one of the three poorest countries in the world. Most years are considered famine years as rainfall is often not enough for the majority who attempt to live off of each year’s harvest.  The average literacy rate is 28% and 50% of Niger’s 17.5 million people are under the age of 15.  Though 97% of the people are Muslims, the country declares religious freedom.  Because of this, Niger is a gateway nation, providing a way for the Gospel to not only penetrate its people, but also to reach surrounding nations.  NOW is the time to reach Niger!

Neal & Danette Childs have been reaching the unreached with Vie Abondante (Abundant Life) in Niger, Africa since 1997.  The goal of Vie Abondante is church planting and discipleship and there are currently 36 churches across the nation.  These churches are all pastored by nationals (former Muslims), trained by the ministry.  This is accomplished through:

  • Discipleship Schools (3)
  • Leadership Schools (2)
  • Christian Primary Schools (2)
  • Evangelism
  • Children’s Ministry
  • Youth Ministry
  • Literacy training
  • Famine relief
